Since 1992 the Acorn Music Theatre Company has enchanted audiences, young and old alike, with its creative and innovative music theatre productions based on myths and legends of the world including The Odyssey, Celtic Tales, The Hound of Ulster and The Arabian Knights.

The young people of Acorn have performed in many weird and wonderful places including Zippo’s Circus at the Edinburgh Festival, the Grahamstown Festival in South Africa, the Henley Festival of Music and Art, and also in various barns and fields of Oxfordshire!

In 2007 they took to the conventional stage of the Kenton Theatre in Henley - Britain’s fourth oldest working theatre - when they premiere their latest production Tyger Tyger. In January 2006 Artistic Director Gail Rosier visited India on a research and development project funded by the Arts Council. Tyger Tyger is inspired by the sights and sounds of West Bengal, and the production aimed to foster a greater understanding and enjoyment of Bengali stories, introducing the lyricism and beauty of Bengali and Sanskrit to a new audience.

As with all Acorn productions the Company is supported and encouraged by professional actors, technicians and designers. They include Hannah Firmin (illustrator of the ‘Book Cover of the Year Award’ for the No1 Ladies Detective Agency) who produced the design for Tyger Tyger, and ex Acorn Tom Rogers, now a successful and innovative theatre designer, who created the set, complimented by the work of evocative lighting designer Anya Fox. The combination of fantastic design, live original music and dynamic physical theatre made this show a visual treat.
